Grupo Logista, the leading comprehensive distributor of value added products and services to capillary retail networks in Southern Europe, has implemented a system for calculating and tracing emissions of greenhouse gases by all its activities.

The Group so obtains a detailed and exhaustive system for calculating, analyzing and controlling the emissions of greenhouse gases, extending to all activities carried out both directly and indirectly.

The Group thus demonstrates its commitment to environmental sustainability of its activity and extends to this area its vocation for operational efficiency.

The system has a calculation and analysis methodology based on the internationally recognized Green House Green Protocol standard, as well as on the new UNE-EN-16258:2012 rule for energy consumption and emissions of greenhouse gases in freight services.

Furthermore, the calculation of emissions has been verified according to the ISO 14064 standard, achieved with the highest assurance level, ensuring that both the methodology and procedures applied fairly represent the information on greenhouse gases emissions in a consistent, objective, transparent and accurate way.

The developed and verified methodology allows for individual analysis by country and business unit. In fact, it has included emissions from electricity and fuel consumption by all the Group’s activities, its 42 central and regional warehouses in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy and Poland, as well as its transport activities.

Grupo Logista has extended the calculation and analysis to those activities within Grupo Logista’s but outsourced, as the activity by subcontracted transport vehicles.

Thus Grupo Logista has gone beyond the usual standard verifications and has voluntarily extended them to emissions by transport services managed by the company, proving Grupo Logista’s clear will towards a comprehensive and complete sustainability.

This action is an essential first step for a better and more specific understanding of the environmental effect of its direct and indirect activities as a whole and its carbon footprint in particular, allowing for establishing a program of reduction targets for the coming years, as well as for analyzing its compliance.

Grupo Logista is committed to continuously improving the environmental sustainability of its activity and continues moving forward in actions defined under the Group’s Quality and Environment Corporate Strategic Plan.

The implementation and verification of this system reinforces the Group's commitment, as reflected in its Quality, Environment and Energy Efficiency Corporate Plan and adds to other already in place, such as the implementation of an integrated system for use, recovery and reuse of cardboard boxes in deliveries to tobacconists, with has reduced cardboard boxes used by over 50%.
