NACEX, the Logista Group parcel and express courier firm, joined for the fifth consecutive year to Servei Solidari Foundation’s “Recicla Cultura” solidarity initiative, favouring literacy for people in risk of social exclusion. The campaign’s aim is to raise awareness on the difficulties for immigrant people in knowing the language and accessing culture. The initiative raises funds to finance literacy courses carried out by the Foundation’s volunteers.
At that aim, the weeks previous to April 23rd, International Book Day, NACEX involved its whole staff in a special activity, organizing a collection and subsequent charity sale of used books. The initiative was warmly welcomed, exceeding the results of previous years, with great participation on NACEX’s collaborators, both in donating and in selling books.
Also, NACEX has donated part of the collected books to the Foundation, which sold them during the International Book Day.
The funds raised will be entirely devoted to fund the literacy courses for people in risk of social exclusion the Servei Solidari Foundation has been giving for over 10 years. In 2018, the Recicla Cultura project raised €29,000 due to, among others, NACEX’s support. Thanks to this fundraising, 690 people were benefitted through 27 courses to learn how to write and read.
Just in Catalonia there are over 100,000 illiterate people, 2% of the population. This initiative’s aim is to achieve that increasingly more people learn to read and write as a first step towards its social inclusion.
