  • The current Covid-19 public health crisis has made patients with rare diseases double vulnerability, due to delays in their diagnosis and the cancellation of therapy sessions. For this reason, NACEX and FEDER support their families by distributing more than 200,000 masks among their associations.

NACEX, Logista’s express parcel and documentation delivery company, reaffirms its commitment to the Spanish Federation for Rare Diseases (FEDER), collaborating by means of the shipment of more than 200,000 masks.

This measure aims to support patients and families, so that they do not have to add the cost of purchasing safety materials to protect their health to the expenses derived from the pathology.

The public health crisis resulting from Covid-19 has had a great impact on this group of people, who live with rare diseases, and their families. Many of these people are at greater risk from the virus due to their pathologies. In addition, the pandemic has created many problems in 9 out of 10 cases due to the delay in diagnosis and centre closures and limitations.

More than 40% are not receiving treatment and depend exclusively on therapies, and many of the families have had to hire extra services to take care of them, meaning an extra cost that represents almost 20% of their income.

With this activity, NACEX once again renews its long-standing commitment to patients and their families through its collaboration with FEDER.

The courier company has supported the World Rare Disease Day campaign in recent years, allowing FEDER to send campaign materials to its associative movement.

This collaboration has thus allowed FEDER to continue working on its objective of empowering and training its associative movement and turning it into a direct agent of its own change.

“Our synergy with NACEX allows us to weave “Networks of Hope” with our organizations and between them. It has also allowed us to support them at an especially vulnerable time, thanks to the shipment of these masks that will help protect our collective, guarantee the opening of their centres, and reduce the economic impact that this pandemic is having on them” said Juan Carrión, president of FEDER and its foundation.

Arianne Muñoz, Marketing Director at NACEX, said that “for NACEX it is an honour to collaborate on this initiative with FEDER, by providing them with our logistics network. The Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the fundamental role of transport in carrying out a lot of charitable activities and, at this time, they are needed more than ever.”

Thanks to this collaboration, NACEX enables the patients’ quality of life to improve, in line with its continuing commitment to health promotion and medical research.
