  • The company will manage the book deliveries of 39% of the stands at the Fair.
  • Logista Libros forecasts an 18% rise in copies distributed this year.

This Friday sees the start of the 2023 Madrid Book Fair, the largest annual book event in Spain, at which almost 1,000 publishing houses gather in El Retiro Park. In this, the 82nd edition, a total of 385 exhibitors’ stands will be participating, including bookshops, publishers and organisations of all kinds.

Over the next two weeks, organising the Book Fair will require a great deal of capacity in terms of delivery, management and coordination. Logista Libros, the largest independent book distributor in Spain, is the main supplier to the stands. The company is responsible for managing the book stock of 150 stands, representing 39% of the total, supplying them with all shipments and demand for copies across the two weeks the Fair lasts.

Moreover, for this year, Logista Libros has planned an 18% increase in the number of copies distributed during the Fair and a 5% increase in the number of titles, which will mean greater bibliodiversity. In other words, visitors will have access to a wide and rich thematic and literary diversity of works at the stands.

On the other hand, as a service provider to the Fair, Logista Libros has implemented several operational actions focused on reducing its carbon footprint. Thus, in collaboration with the Fair organisers, it is offering a centralised transport service for the stands. Also new this year, some paper documentation has been eliminated and we are working with publishers and booksellers to reduce the use of boxes.

“For us, the Book Fair is a unique time of year when we contribute to the success of the cultural festival. It involves a great effort not only to manage and distribute goods but also in coordination and cooperation with all the agents involved, from the Madrid City Council to booksellers, publishers and authors. It gives us great satisfaction to see the thousands of visitors who come to the Fair being able to get their hands on their favourite title”, said Daniel Oropesa, the general manager of Logista Libros.
