Employees of the company have reforested a hectare of forest in the north of Madrid with 300 trees.
Logista, one of Europe’s largest logistics operators, has shown its commitment to sustainability by replanting a forest in the north of Madrid that has undergone deforestation in recent years and is in urgent need of revitalisation. The company’s employees therefore replanted a hectare with 300 trees.
This action is part of Logista’s collaboration with the Reforest Project, whose mission is to combat climate change by recovering forgotten areas. Thus, Logista has added to the potential of the organisations collaborating with the organisation, which has already planted more than 3,500 trees in various Spanish provinces such as Madrid, Valencia, Seville and Palencia.
Founded in 2019, Reforest Project is a non-profit reforestation organisation established in the belief that individual change is fundamental and necessary for global change. That is why one of its activities is to give companies the tools to implement replanting projects with benefits for people, nature, the environment and the planet.
Juan José Guajardo-Fajardo of Logista assessed this initiative as follows: “This collaboration with Reforest Project is a beautiful volunteer initiative that contributes significantly to creating green lungs and regenerating local diversity. This is a shared activity between Logista employees and family members that reinforces our ESG social commitment.
Fernando Ojeda, founder of Forest Project, said: “Individual responsibility is the beginning of global change. When that responsibility becomes corporate, change is exponentially greater. We are very grateful to Logista for taking this initiative, where we have planted a new one-hectare woodland that will grow and renaturalise the environment”
Logista was recently awarded the “Golden Shovel” at the third edition of the ReForest Project Awards in recognition of its sustainability activism and its work to care for the planet.
Furthermore, Logista’s firm commitment to sustainability was recognised in October 2024 by Sustainalytics, one of the world’s foremost evaluators of Corporate Social Responsibility and Corporate Governance.
