- CDP again includes Logista in its “A List”, with only 119 companies worldwide
- It is the only European distributor in CDP’s “A List”
Logista has been again recognized, for the second consecutive year, as one of the world leaders fighting climate change.
The company has been included in the exclusive group of 119 companies worldwide in the “A List” made by CDP. Only 40% of the companies recognized last year have been recognized again this year.
Logista is the only European distributor being awarded. In Spain, CDP only recognized 6 companies in the “A List” thanks to their actions to reduce emissions and mitigate climate change in the past fiscal year.
CDP is an international not-for-profit organization independently assessing environmental information reported by over 6,300 companies worldwide, with near 55% of the global market capitalization. CDP works mandated by institutional investors with assets exceeding US$100 trillion, to motivate companies to disclose and manage their impacts on the environment.
CDP has assessed actions and improvements implemented in recent years throughout the Logista Group’s companies, and have set it as a model and benchmark company for participant organizations in the CDP Program.
Since fiscal year 2013 the Logista Group is calculating and externally verifying, according to internationally recognized standards, the carbon footprint of every business and service in the different countries where it operates, including the Group’s outsourced activities, as those by outsourced transport vehicles, franchises and indirect activities, as well as the purchase of products and services, water consumption or waste generation.
This calculation, based on internationally recognized rules and standards, is verified under the UNE-EN ISO 14064 standard by a reputed independent entity, ratifying the figures and the process reliability and traceability.
Logista keeps an unequivocal commitment to the environment, included in its Quality, Environment and Energy Efficiency Policy, and makes a ongoing effort in sustainability and climate change, including actions such as optimizing routes, reducing kilometers running empty, replacing conventional fleet for efficient vehicles, energy audits, redesign of packaging or the promotion of reuse and recycling, among others.
This commitment extends to the entire Group. Thus, for example, Integra2 has increased its fleet of vehicles running with less polluting fuels, while Nacex already has electric vehicles in its fleet and promotes purchasing electric vehicles by its franchises. Also, Logesta constantly incorporates the most efficient technology, prioritizing Euro VI engines and Green Tech technology.
Also, over 90% of the Group’s facilities, including every directly managed center in Spain, France, Italy and Portugal, have been supplied with 100% renewable-produced electricity.
Logista has been one of the first European companies being approved by Science Based Targets (SBT). SBT supports companies in establishing by how much their emissions must be cut and setting scientifically based reduction targets so the increase in global temperature, when comparing to the pre-industrial era, is kept below 2ºC
The “A List”, along with the scores of all companies taking part in CDP’s climate change program, is available on the organization’s website (www.cdp.net).
Logista is the leading distributor of products and services to proximity retailers in Southern Europe, serves some 300,000 points of sale in Spain, France, Italy and Portugal, and facilitates the best and fastest market access to tobacco and convenience products, electronic top-ups, pharmaceuticals, books, publications and lotteries, among others.
