- The pharmaceutical company BIAL joins the solidarity action with the initial contribution of several vans
- With this action, hospitals will have a service to deliver drugs to patients at home
Due to the current health crisis caused by Covid-19, there are many patients at risk, who must stay home and avoid going to hospitals, in order to avoid the exposure to possible sources of contagion of the coronavirus. This confinement makes drugs procurement difficult, especially in the areas most affected by the virus.
Logista Pharma has launched an initiative to provide hospitals with a collection service from hospital pharmacies and the delivery of dispensing medication to patients' homes during the health crisis. In this way, it has permitted a continuous response to patients’ needs, so that their treatments are not interrupted, and also without making them go to the hospital, thus avoiding the risk of infection. This solidarity action has involved the collaboration of BIAL with several vans that will be transferred to different cities in Spain.
In order to face this challenge of home care for patients, the collaboration of the two companies becomes into a contribution of full-time vehicles available for Hospital Pharmaceutical Service for the delivery of medicines to patients without making them going to hospitals, providing also a monitoring of the vehicles’ temperature, call center to health centers, traceability of the route, GPS tracking, packaging for the transport of medicines and guarantee of quality compliance.
Ana Álvarez, General Director of BIAL in Spain, said that “we want to contribute to improve this situation by joining forces and guaranteeing home care for people at risk. From BIAL, we want to collaborate in this initiative due to its relevance in the fight against coronavirus as well as for the health care of patients".
