  • L’Oréal joins the Logista HVO 24’ Plan to promote the use of this alternative fuel in long distance transport

Logista Freight, a Logista company specialising in long-distance transport, has just launched a new initiative alongside L’Oréal Groupe to contribute to a more sustainable future in freight transport. This is the Logista HVO 24’ Plan, an initiative designed and implemented by Logista Freight which L’Oréal has signed up to in order to promote the use of HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) as an alternative fuel.

The range and infrastructure of electric trucks is still at an early stage, which precludes it from being a viable option for long-distance transport or international travel. HVO significantly reduces emissions of harmful substances such as carbon dioxide (CO 2), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulates, emitting as much as 80% to 90% less than conventional diesel, making it today’s main alternative for long-distance transport to achieve a significant reduction in carbon footprint.

With the same aim in mind, the two companies signed an agreement in February, adding the first electric trailer truck for direct short-distance deliveries. Now they are going one step further, with L’Oréal joining the Logista HVO 24’ Plan.

According to Pablo de Valdenebro, Operations Director of L’Oréal Spain and Portugal: At L’Oréal, we are truly committed to our L’Oréal For The Future sustainability programme. An important step is to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions by 50% from 2016 levels, and the Logista HVO 24’ Plan is a key tool to achieve this.”

Álvaro González-Escalada from Logista Freight emphasised that “the use of renewable energies, route optimisation and the commitment to less polluting vehicles are fundamental to our commitment to sustainability. The Logista HVO 24 Plan is another example of our commitment to working towards more sustainable freight transport in partnership with committed companies such as L’Oréal Groupe.”
