- With the new sorting system, NACEX has increased its handling capacity from 3,900 to 6,000 shipments per hour.
In line with its commitment to excellence and continuous improvement, NACEX, Logista’s express parcel and document delivery company, has increased the operational capacity of its Porto hub with a new sorter, going from handling 3,900 up to 6,000 shipments per hour, which increases efficiency and optimises delivery times.
Implementing the new sorting system with Crossbelt Linear technology has involved modifying the facilities, which have been extended to 2,150 m², providing capacity for various loading and unloading bays for trucks and vans.
The hub now has 4 points for goods in and 32 for goods out, along with an automatic recirculation system to quickly resolve any incidents with shipment labelling. It has five-sided vision barcode scanning with the first colour scanner that NACEX has installed in its sorters, going from black and white HD photographs to colour ones. This results in greater efficiency and responsiveness to customer needs.
Security in the hub is guaranteed thanks to the NACEX traceability system, which uses 20 HD cameras. In addition, the facility can control sensitive shipments thermally, such as those from NACEXpharma, using a temperature-controlled container between 15 and 25°C, and LED lighting to improve energy efficiency.
"At NACEX we focus on the satisfaction of our customers and, for this reason, we are committed to a continuous improvement strategy to adapt to their needs and put the necessary resources in place to meet our commitments. The changes made to the Porto logistics hub are another example of this," explains João Jales, Country Manager for NACEX Portugal.
This investment not only underlines NACEX's commitment to innovation but also strengthens its position in the market. Furthermore, the new sorter’s introduction comes at a crucial time, when the demand for courier services is constantly growing due to the rise of e-commerce and the need for efficient logistics solutions.
