NACEX and ASDENT Celebrate 8 Years Promoting Research into Dent's Disease
- Since 2018, NACEX's "Donate a Plastic Cap: Small Steps for a Worthy Cause" campaign has collected more than 165 tons of plastic caps, which have helped to fund two medical research projects promoted by ASDENT.
- Dent's disease is a rare, genetic disease that affects about 400 people worldwide.
Eight years after its launch, the “Donate a Plastic Cap: Small Steps for a Worthy Cause” charity campaign continues to mobilise the NACEX network to fight against Dent's disease. NACEX is Logista’s express parcel and document delivery company. Originating from the collaboration between the company and the “Asociación de la enfermedad de Dent (ASDENT)” - Spanish Dent’s Disease Association, the initiative has moved more than 165 tons of plastic bottle caps since 2018, 4,130 kg in 2026 alone.
The “Donate a Plastic Cap: Small Steps for a Worthy Cause” campaign aims to raise funds to finance the two medical research projects that ASDENT is promoting at the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) and at the Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria Hospital in Tenerife.
To make this possible, NACEX is making its distribution network available to them. The company's more than 300 franchises, along with customer facilities that have joined the project, have plastic cap collection bins. NACEX is responsible for transporting these plastic caps to its platform in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona), where the material is handed over to an authorised organisation for recycling.
“We want to thank all the collaborators, employees, franchisees, and customers who participate in this initiative. Their commitment is key to the campaign continuing to grow year on year,” says Arianne Muñoz, Marketing and CSR Director at NACEX.
Dent's disease is a rare, genetic condition that affects approximately 400 people worldwide. Caused by a mutation of a gene on the X chromosome, it alters the functioning of the kidneys, preventing the body from properly reabsorbing essential nutrients.
The campaign is part of NACEX's CSR strategy. Specifically, it falls within the initiatives aimed at promoting healthcare and supporting medical research. In this spirit, the company also collaborates with entities such as FEDER (Spanish Federation for Rare Diseases), the Josep Carreras Foundation, the AECC Spanish Association Against Cancer), and the Ronald McDonald Foundation, among others.
Furthermore, “Donate a Plastic Cap: Small Steps for a Worthy Cause” allows for the recovery of a significant amount of plastic and promotes its recycling, contributing to NACEX's commitment to waste reduction. This commitment is reflected in the new edition of the company's Sustainability Report, part of Logista's consolidated management report, which offers a global view of social, labour, and environmental performance during the 2024-2025 fiscal year.
“After eight years, our collaboration with ASDENT demonstrates that small gestures can add up to cause a real impact, both in Dent’s Disease research and its visibility,” concludes Arianne Muñoz.
