  • Logista Parcel and Logista Freight facilitated the transport of Hyperloop UPV to the Netherlands, supporting a faster, cleaner, and more sustainable future of transportation.
  • The team presented major innovations, earning third place in the top category.

The Hyperloop UPV project, led by a team of engineers from the Polytechnic University of Valencia and supported by Logista, successfully participated in the European Hyperloop Week (EHW), held in Groningen (Netherlands) from July 14 to 20. Hyperloop UPV presented a new prototype and recent innovations during the event, positioning itself as one of the most cutting-edge projects in the development of this revolutionary transportation technology.

Participation in the EHW marks a significant milestone for the Valencian team, which received support from Logista—one of Europe’s largest logistics operators—to transport its prototype from Spain to the Netherlands through its Logista Parcel and Logista Freight divisions.

Specifically, the Hyperloop UPV team achieved third place in the top category: the “Overall System Award,” competing against 13 other teams from around the world who also presented complete proposals.

Additionally, the Spanish team was among the top three finalists in other categories, such as the “Full Scale Technical Award,” where they presented research on different charging methods for Hyperloop vehicles, which received positive feedback from the jury.

More than 30 teams and over 500 students from across Europe participated in the competition.

Transport by Logista

Throughout 2025, Logista facilitated the transport of Hyperloop UPV to the Barcelona Advanced Factories and Advanced Machine Tools tech fairs, as well as to events at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, where the team showcased technical advancements and a new, larger vehicle.

“Innovation and sustainability are fundamental pillars at Logista, and seeing these young engineers revolutionize the future of transportation confirms that we are on the right path,” said Juan José Guajardo-Fajardo, Director of HR, Marketing, and Communication at Logista.

Hyperloop UPV: Cutting-Edge Technology Reinventing Transportation

The Hyperloop UPV team has made decisive advances crucial for their participation in the European Hyperloop Week. The project recently integrated its internally designed DLIM electric motor, which enables acceleration of 7.26 m/s²—comparable to high-end sports cars—reaching speeds of up to 120 km/h with a weight of just 250 kg.

The new prototype, significantly larger than its predecessor and closer to a full-scale vehicle, includes three key innovations:

·         An onboard charging system that allows the vehicle to recharge directly from the power grid, eliminating the need to remove and charge batteries individually, thus enhancing scalability.

·         A regenerative braking mechanism that captures and reuses energy during braking to recharge the batteries, significantly improving the system’s sustainability and efficiency.

·         An advanced external acceleration motor that propels the vehicle without the need to carry excessive onboard batteries.

Other improvements include a liquid cooling system for electronic components and levitation units, a new vacuum-resistant capsule with an interior design simulating the real passenger experience, and a power supply system using supercapacitors.

Track tests have been promising, verifying the proper functioning of the control boards (PCBs) and vehicle sensors. The entire design, both electrical and mechanical, is especially

focused on safety, bringing this disruptive technology closer to a more functional and commercially viable model.

Hyperloop, known as the fifth mode of transportation, combines the speed of airplanes—around 1,000 km/h—with the comfort and frequency of rail. Its concept is simple: capsules levitate in low-pressure tubes, eliminating surface and air friction through magnetic levitation and a near-vacuum environment.
